Some stained teeth respond slower to teeth whitening. Antibiotic stains e.g. tetracycline can be slow to give the desired result and may require more work. Professional home tray teeth whitening is more indicated in these cases and can take several months.
Heavily restored front teeth can, due to the restorations and fillings presents, give limited cosmetic results. Existing crowns, veneers and fillings do not whiten.
If you have any of these, you may need to consider replacing them post-whitening to achieve the optimum cosmetic result.
Greyish teeth – these teeth may also benefit more from professional home tray teeth whitening. As they tend to respond more slowly to the whitening process, compared with yellowish teeth. Yellow teeth respond well generally to teeth whitening. The option of using laser whitening, such as Zoom! 3 Advanced Power teeth whitening system could be considered.
White spots and flecks may be highlighted and become more noticeable. Feel free to talk to our cosmetic dental team at our Newcastle Dental Centre. To find out more or if you have any concerns regarding this or with any other issues.
