Single tooth implants procedure at our dental centre in Newcastle

Do you have a missing tooth? A single tooth implant could be the ideal solution.

A single tooth implant is generally used when a tooth has been lost.  The ideal time to carry out this procedure is 8-10 weeks after the tooth has been lost, otherwise, bone grafting procedures could have to be considered prior to placing any tooth implant.

Generally, it can take between 6 – 9 months for a single tooth implant to be placed. The time is needed to allow time for osseointegration of the dental implant with the bone.

Process for single-tooth implants

The procedure involves firstly the assessment to check for suitability, then impressions are taken for models along with some x-rays.

Depending on each patient and their oral health, single tooth implants tend to be straight forward.  Generally, it can take between 3 – 6 months for a single tooth implant to be placed. The time is needed to allow time for maximum bonding and strengthening of the dental implant with the bone.

For your information, the placing of the single tooth implant is generally carried out under local anaesthetic, which most patients find more comfortable. For patients who suffer from dental anxiety intravenous sedation is also an option, for a deeper level of relaxation.

If you have perhaps lost a tooth then an implant could be the best solution for you.
